Samokish Nikolai Semenovich (1860, Nezhin, Chernigov province - 1944).

Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1937). Painter. Schedule. He studied at the Academy of Arts (1879 – 1885) with B.P. Villevalde, in private studios in Paris (1886 – 1889). Since 1887, he was listed with the troops for battle work. Academician of the Academy of Arts (since 1890). He taught at the Academy of Arts (1912 – 1917), led a battle painting class. Since 1913, the professor has been the head of the VCU at the Academy of Arts, a full member of the Academy of Arts. He worked at the Kharkov Art Institute (1936 – 1941). Had experience in monumental paintings (Poltava). Illustrated the book by N. Kutepov “Grand-ducal royal and imperial hunting in Rus' from the 10th to the 19th centuries.”
