Rustam grew up in Grozny. He studied at an art school, then at the art and graphic department of the Grozny Pedagogical Institute. After college, he moved to Rostov-on-Don and lived there for several years, now he lives in Moscow. The first exhibition of Rustam’s works was held in Grozny in the late 90s, and perhaps the most famous specialist in painting in the South, Valery RYAZANOV, said about him: “Rustam Sardalov’s graphics continue the search for artists of the past century, combining tradition with modernity... And in the artist’s graphic watercolors one can immediately feel the precision of color, as quiet and laconic as he himself.” In 2001-2006, several personal exhibitions of the artist were organized in Rostov-on-Don. In January–February 2007, the exhibition “Protective Mechanisms: Graphics by Rustam Sardalov” was successfully held at the Praktika Theater. In May 2007 he took part in the MIRUMIR exhibition, which was held at the Gas Gallery as part of the International Art Fair Moscow.
