He studied at the Bogolyubov Drawing School in Saratov (1897-1900) with V.V. Konovalov, at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1901-1908) with Ya.F. Tsionglinsky, I.E. Repina, D.N. Kardovsky. Pensioner of the Academy of Arts in Italy (1909-1911). Since 1906, he began active exhibition activities. Participant in exhibitions of the New Society of Artists (1906, 1907, 1910), the Union of Russian Artists (1910, 1911), "World of Art" (1917), "4 Arts". A. Savinov’s life’s work was painting the Church of the Savior on the Kharkov estate of millionaire sugar manufacturer Pavel Kharitonenko in 1913–1915, after which the artist was mainly engaged in teaching. He taught at the State Free Art Workshops in Saratov (from 1918 - professor), at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (from 1922). During the war, A. Savinov participated in preparations for the evacuation of the State Hermitage collection, and personally prepared Rembrandt paintings for sending to the rear. Works by A.I. Savinov’s works are in the Saratov State Art Museum and in many private collections in Russia and abroad.
