Simkhovich Simkha Faibusovich

He studied at the Odessa Art School (1905-11), then at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg (1913-1922). In 1919 he received 1st prize at the Petrograd art competition “The Great Russian Revolution”. Since 1924 he lived in the USA. The artist's personal exhibitions took place in the New York galleries M. Stemer (1927, 1928, 1929, 1931) and Middletown (1940). In 1932 he received the 2nd Harris Prize and a bronze medal from the Art Institute of Chicago, in 1933 - the 3rd Prize from the Worcester Art Museum. He was a member of the Brooklyn Society of Artists. In the 1930s he taught at his own school. The artist's works are in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the National Museum in Krakow.
