Graduated from the Art College named after 1905, Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. Lived and worked in Podolsk, Moscow region. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Participant of many all-Union and all-Russian exhibitions, the Soviet Russia exhibition (Moscow, 1960). The works of Ivan Kuzmich Sobakin were sold at the Russian auction at Christies in 1995-96, and are in several regional museums of Russia (Podolsk, Serpukhov) and private collections.
