Solomin Nikolai Nikolaevich (born 1940)

Soviet and Russian painter, teacher, professor. Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (2007; corresponding member 2001). People's Artist of the RSFSR (1991). Laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR in the field of architecture (1981). In 1959-1969 he studied at the Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov (workshop of Professor V.G. Tsyplakov). In 1969 he began working at the Studio of Military Artists named after M.B. Grekov, which he led from 1989 to 1997. In 1995 - 2000, he painted the restored Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Since 2005, he has been the head of the personal workshop of battle painting at the Moscow State Academy of Arts named after V. I. Surikov. The artist's personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1984, 1988), Ulaanbaatar (1989), Berlin (1975), Shanghai (2002). The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Central Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineering and Signal Corps (St. Petersburg), the Central Museum of the Armed Forces (Moscow), regional museums of Russia, as well as in private collections.
