Stenberg Vladimir Avgustovich

Stenberg Vladimir Avgustovich (1899, Moscow - 1982, Moscow).

Soviet graphic artist, set designer, film poster master; a prominent representative of constructivism. Together with his brother Georgy, he studied at the Stroganov School, then at state free art workshops. He participated in the art associations OBMOKHU (1919–1920), INHUK (1921–1924), and “October” (1928). The brothers exhibited together in the circle of avant-garde artists from 1919; participated in the First Russian Exhibition in Berlin (1922) and the World Exhibition in Paris (1925). In 1926, the Stenberg brothers became full-time film poster artists at Sovkino and during 4 years of active work they created about three hundred posters for Soviet and foreign films.
