Student of the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture. In 1844, the Academy of Arts gave him the title of non-class artist; in 1857 - the title of academician for the watercolors “Head of an Old Man”, “Head of an Old Woman”, “Girl in a Finnish Costume” and “Self-Portrait”. In subsequent years, genre works painted in oil and watercolor, as well as numerous portraits and portrait compositions, regularly appeared at academic and other exhibitions. Among them are “Rural School”, “Lucky Woman”, “Rest After Haymaking”, “Fisherman”, “Little Russian Woman”, “Beggar”, “Study of an Old Man”, “Girl’s Head”, etc.
