Strigin Vasily Vasilievich

Strigin Vasily Vasilievich (1918).

Born in the village of Uspenka, Olkhovsky district, Volgograd region. In 1939 he graduated from the Stalingrad Art School. He took part in the Great Patriotic War from July 2, 1941. Commanded the communications department of the battery of the 544th artillery regiment. He continued to serve as part of the 117th High Power Artillery Brigade of the RVGK as the commander of the reconnaissance section of the headquarters battery with the rank of sergeant major. He defended Moscow, took part in the battles of Vyazma and the Battle of Stalingrad. He liberated Smolensk and Minsk, fought through Lithuania and Prussia, and took part in the assault on Koenigsberg. In the post-war years - artist, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Twice elected chairman of the board of the Volgograd branch of the Union of Artists. He was elected as a deputy of the City Council. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, the Red Star, medals “For Courage”, “For Military Merit”, “For the Defense of Moscow”, “For the Capture of Koenigsberg” and others. Lives in Volgograd.
