He studied at St. Petersburg University at the Faculty of Science (1885-1889). Expelled for participating in student unrest. He did not receive any special art education. From 1904, he became close to the artistic environment, began to write poetry, met S. Yesenin, but over time he gave more and more preference to painting. Communication with O. Braz, I. Myasoedov, S. Kolesnikov and B. Anisfeld was important for V. Sukov. Made trips to Italy, France, Germany, England. He began his independent creative career at the age of over 40. In 1910-1911 together with I. Myasoedov made a trip to Italy. In Paris, he met K. Korovin, which significantly influenced V. Sukov’s creative passions. Throughout his life, the artist gave preference to the French tradition. Since 1920 he taught in an art studio on Tavricheskaya Street. Since 1921 he has participated in exhibitions of the "Community of Artists". Since 1932 - member of the Union of Artists. Many works were lost during the siege of Leningrad. The works are in the State Russian Museum, the Museum of History of St. Petersburg and private collections.
