Svedomsky Pavel Alexandrovich (1849-1904)

Russian academic artist, master of the historical genre. Member of the St. Petersburg Society of Artists. P.A. Svedomsky worked in line with late academic art. His work organically fit into the context of European art. Creativity is diverse in genres. He created a series of large historical works, one of which was bought by P.M. Tretyakov and during the life of the collector was on display in the gallery. Participated in the paintings of the Vladimir Cathedral in Kyiv. Pavel Aleksandrovich Svedomsky was a member of the St. Petersburg Society of Artists, regularly sent his works to exhibitions in St. Petersburg and other European cities, where he often received medals for his paintings. In 1879, he received the title of “honorary free associate” and was awarded a silver medal by the Academy of Arts for the paintings “Moscow is Burning” and “Daughter of the Camellia.” In Russia, the author’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in the museums of Omsk, Tomsk, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Kirov, Kyiv, Gorlovka, Sarapul, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm.
