He drew from childhood until he volunteered for the Red Army in 1939. He returned to creativity only ten years later. I met the war face to face. In 1943 he entered flight school. Therefore, he depicts commanders, intelligence officers, sailors and ordinary soldiers with the convincingness of an eyewitness, first making sketches, and then expanding the scope of the portrait to thematic paintings that convey the spirit of the era. After demobilization, Sychev begins to work in Taganrog art workshops, trying to restore the skills lost over the years. War memories will never leave him. For many years, Sychev has been creating a whole gallery of portraits - military leaders, partisans, nurses. Sychev’s works are a kind of requiem, a picturesque embodiment of the theme “No one is forgotten and nothing is forgotten.” The 87-year-old artist still works every day in his studio. Mikhail Antonovich participated in the creation of the most grandiose paintings - dioramas in the museums of Simferopol, Dnepropetrovsk, Belgorod. The artist’s demonstrated ability to convey the spirit of the times largely determined his further work. He participated in many major exhibitions.
