People's Artist of the Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (1955). Honored Artist of the Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (1937) and the RSFSR (1950). In 1892 - 1895 he studied at the Drawing School of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts under Ya.F. Tsionglinsky in St. Petersburg. In 1895 - 1900 he studied at the Higher Art School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at the Imperial Academy of Arts under N.D. Kuznetsova and A.O. Kovalevsky. Took private lessons from I.E. Repina. The artist's exhibitions were held in Moscow (1952, 1970) and other cities. The works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum.
