Charles Camoin

Famous French artist - Fauvist. In 1895, Charles Camoin entered the School of Fine Arts in Marseille. He continued his studies in the Parisian studio of Gustav Moreau, where he studied with Matisse, Mangan, Marche, Rouault, artists who later formed the core of the Fauvist group. Since 1903 he exhibited at the Salon of Independents and since 1904 at the Autumn Salon. In 1904, in Giverny, he met Claude Monet. In 1913 he worked in Morocco with A. Matisse. After visiting Renoir's workshop in Cagnes-sur-Mer, Charles Camoin's painting style became softer and more expressive. The artist's works are in the Pompadour Museum in Paris, as well as in many European collections.
