Master of battle, historical and genre painting. He was awarded the title of academician in (1859). In 1848 he entered the Academy, where he studied historical painting, under the guidance of F.A. Bruni, battle fighter in the class of B.P. Ballewald. In 1871, he was invited as a consultant to the drawing workshops of the Main Quartermaster Directorate to paint military scenes, celebrations, maneuvers and other things in watercolors for the albums of Emperor Alexander II, and in 1873 he received the title of Artist of His Imperial Majesty.
