Shennikov Alexander Alexandrovich (1926-2002)

Shennikov A.A. Shennikov Alexander Alexandrovich (1926-2002) Soviet painter and architectural historian. Candidate of Art History (1960), Doctor of Architecture (1986). In 1951 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. E. Repin, studied at the department of civil engineering disciplines of the Faculty of Architecture, specializing in “architect-artist”. He defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of art history on the topic “Russian peasant stone architecture” (1960) and his doctoral dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Architecture “Development of the peasant estate of the North and North-West of European Russia in the 16th–19th centuries: A study in the history of architecture” (1986). Since 1961 - Associate Professor of the Department of Materials Technology and Engineering and Mathematical Disciplines at the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School (LVHPU) named after V. I. Mukhina.
