Schoolboy Joseph Solomonovich

Russian graphic artist and theater artist. Born into a Jewish family. He studied at the Odessa Art School. One of the founders and participants of the St. Petersburg art association “Youth Union” (1910-1918). In 1913, together with the artist Pavel Filonov, he designed the production of the play “Vladimir Mayakovsky” and, together with Kazimir Malevich, the production of the play “Victory over the Sun” by V. Velimir Khlebnikov and Alexei Kruchenykh. In 1917 he participated in the decoration of revolutionary festivities. Since 1918 - designer of performances in Luna Park. Decorator of the Trinity Theater (1913-1917), Maly Theater (1918-1919) in Petrograd. Member of the board of the fine arts department of the People's Commissariat of Education and director of the Petrograd Decorative Institute.
