Штраних В.Ф.

Shtranikh Vladimir Fedorovich (1888, Tsaritsyno village, Moscow province - 1981, Moscow).

People's Artist of the USSR (1978), corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts. He graduated from MUZHVZ, where he studied with A. Vasnetsov, A. Arkhipov, S. Malyutin, L. Pasternak, K. Korovin. In the first years after the revolution he worked in Smolensk. He took an active part in the social and cultural life of the city and headed the Proletkult art studio. Among his students were the subsequently famous artists K. Dorokhov, M. Khazanov, N. Padalitsyn. From 1922 he lived in Moscow. He gained fame as the author of works dedicated to the navy. In 1959, a large personal exhibition of the artist took place in Smolensk. The works are presented in the Smolensk State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve.
