Ukrainian painter, graphic artist, poster artist. Born in the village. Mikhailovka, Kherson region. In 1911 he graduated from Odessa Art University (he studied with K. Kostandi and G. Ladyzhensky). In 1917 - 1922 he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (in the workshops of I. Tvorozhnikov and V. Savinsky). From 1922 he lived and worked in Kharkov. From 1926 he was a member of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Culture, and from 1938 - the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. In the 1930s in Kharkov, based on the artist’s works, a series of postcards with Kharkov views and posters on the themes of industrialization, Soviet sports, etc. were published. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR since 1946. Master of thematic painting, portrait and landscape.
