Шурига П.Н.

Shuriga Pelageya Nikolaevna (1900, Kharkov - 1980, Leningrad).

Sculptor, ceramist, graphic artist. She studied at the Kharkov Art School, and at the same time studied in the studio of Eleanor Bloch, a student of Rodin (1917-1918). In 1920 she entered VKHUTEMAS (Moscow), studied with A.M. Lavinsky. In 1922 she moved to Petrograd and was accepted into the second year of the sculpture department of the Academy of Arts in the workshop of A.T. Matveeva. She worked in sculpture, small plastic arts, painted in watercolors, pastels - landscapes, nudes, portraits. Pelageya Nikolaevna Shuriga was a regular participant in Leningrad and all-Union exhibitions. The artist’s first exhibition took place in 1943 at the Irbit Theater. In 1965, her second personal exhibition took place in the halls of the Leningrad Union of Artists.
