In Polonnoye there was a factory for the production of small porcelain items. Founder, entrepreneur Moisey Brichkin. Since 1895, researchers have been counting the beginning of production, which is one of the oldest enterprises in Ukraine for the production of porcelain products. “Jewellery, trinkets, all kinds of figurines” were cast; mainly members of the Brichka family worked on it. In various publications the factory was referred to as a "faience factory", a "porcelain factory" and a "biscuit factory". The porcelain mass was composed and mixed by hand, the firing temperature was low, and the products were not glazed. It should be noted that the porcelain mass was made both white and colored - greenish, as well as other shades. The work of the private owner Brichkin continued until about 1925. In 1924, the so-called ship-savings production and credit partnership was founded in Polonom. The main task of this partnership was the cooperation of individual artisans. In 1927, the team was formed into an independent statutory industrial artel called “Keramik” and this name remained with it for about 30 years, until 1956. By this time (1927) up to 35 people were already working here. Since September 1956, the plant became a state enterprise and received the name: “Polonsky Art Ceramics Plant” (ZHK).
