People's Artist of the USSR (1978), full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1973). He studied at the Vkhutein in Leningrad (1926-30, in graduate school in 1932-36). Teaches at the Moscow Art Institute. V. I. Surikov since 1961 (professor since 1964). Works in the field of monumental, monumental-decorative and easel sculpture. USSR State Prize (1950).
