Baranov Leonid Mikhailovich

Russian and Soviet sculptor, master of monumental sculpture. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1969), corresponding member (2007) and full member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2012). Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2014). In 1968 he graduated from the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, sculpture workshop of Professor N.V. Tomsky, leaders M.F. Baburin and D.D. Zhilinsky Since 1966 - participant of republican, all-Union and international exhibitions. Laureate of all-Union, all-Russian and international competitions in monumental art: Medal “In Memory of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow” (1997), Medal named after V.E. Vuchetich (1987), gold medal named after V.I. Surikova (2013); Gold medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2008), Medal “Shuvalov” of the Russian Academy of Arts (2013), Medal “Worthy” of the Russian Academy of Arts (2018). The author's works are presented in the collection of the largest museums in Russia, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of A.S. Pushkin, State Russian Museum, Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
