Barbash Luka Nikolaevich (1914, Kurkovichi village, Bryansk province - 1982, Leningrad)

Sculptor. Graduated from Moscow State Technical University named after. Kalinin in 1935. Studied with B.N. Lange. He worked in porcelain at the LFZ. Member of the sculpture section of the Leningrad branch of the Union of Artists (1944). In 1947 was accepted as a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists. In the post-war period, L.N. Barbash carried out extensive restoration work to restore sculptural monuments in Leningrad and the Leningrad region (he restored the Palace Museums in the city of Pushkin, restored sculptures of the Alexander Palace, etc.). In the 1950s, for the Pulkovo Observatory he performed: bas-reliefs-medallions (plaster) of astronomers O.V. Struve, F.A. Bredikhin, A.A. Belopolsky (1951-52); figures of N. Copernicus and G. Galileo (cement, 1954-55, jointly with L.Yu. Edlin). L.N.Barbash is an active participant in Leningrad and republican exhibitions and sculpture competitions. The sculptor’s works are in the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg, the A.S. Museum. Pushkin, Moscow. member of the sculpture section of the Leningrad branch of the Union of Artists.
