Russian sculptor, rector of the Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1878 he entered the Academy of Arts, where he studied with N. A. Laveretsky. Since 1894, professor and head of the sculpture workshop at the Academy's Higher Art School, and since 1906 - its rector. Among his students are such sculptors as V.V. Lishev, M.G. Manizer, L.V. Sherwood.
