Sculptor. The beginning of the professional creative path of the young sculptor was the Leningrad Porcelain Factory. Over the years of working at LZFI, Degtyarev works in small plastic and creates such figurines as “Clown Vyatkin with the dog Manyunya”, “Clown M. Rumyantsev (Pencil)”, “Shoes and Dressed”, and a perfume bottle “Clown”. It is worth noting that the theme of the circus throughout Degtyarev’s career periodically appeared in the sculptor’s works. Later, from 1997 to 2000, Degtyarev would return to small plastic art, creating a series of figurines “Petrine Assembly”. As a true professional in his field, Degtyarev was included in the Union of Artists of the RSFSR since 1956, and since 1957 he regularly exhibited his works at exhibitions. Having gained experience working with porcelain, since the early 1960s the sculptor has turned to other materials: fireclay, plaster, bronze, slate, granite, marble. Since 1966, the sculptor has been working on a number of war memorials. In 1967, Degtyarev became the author of a marble monument-tombstone to the railway heroes S. Kyaher, F. Buslo, B. Bobkov and A. Sukhanov, which was installed at the Novo-Volkovskoe cemetery in Leningrad. In 1997, Degtyarev’s merits were awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia. The sculptor's works are kept in the collections of the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of Urban Sculpture, the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg and other museums.
