Kubachi is an ancient center of artistic metalworking in Dagestan, known since the 14th–15th centuries. The art of coinage, engraving and ink has been passed down fr om generation to generation here. 1924-1926 — creation of the first Artisan art group in Kubachi as part of the policy of supporting folk crafts. In the 1930s, the artel was renamed Export, and already in 1937, at the World Art Exhibition in Paris, the products of the artel's masters were awarded the highest awards - the Grand Prix. In 1960, the artel was reorganized into the Kubachinsky Art Combine (KHK). It becomes a state-owned enterprise focused on the preservation and development of traditional silversmithing. In 1970-1980, the products of the plant have long gained worldwide fame, they were exhibited at 27 regional and 12 World exhibitions, wh ere they were awarded 18 gold and silver medals, in particular, 1958 — Brussels (Belgium), 1967 — Montreal (Canada), 1970 — Osaka (Japan), 1981 — Zagreb (Yugoslavia), 1982 — Copenhagen (Denmark), 1982 — Dusseldorf (Germany) — gold medals, Leipzig, Oklahoma, Istanbul, etc. Since 1991, with the collapse of the USSR, the combine has ceased to be a state organization, but it continues to actively operate at the present time.
