The first factory was founded in 1810. The Kuznetsov industrialists were the most successful in porcelain and earthenware production in Russia in the last third of the 19th century. Having started the business with a handicraft porcelain establishment, founded in Gzhel in the village of Novo-Kharitonovo in 1810, the Kuznetsovs in the second half of the 19th century became the largest suppliers of porcelain, earthenware and majolica and other types of ceramic products on the Russian and world markets. At this time they owned 18 enterprises in different regions of the Russian Empire; at least 10 of these enterprises grew into the country's largest ceramic establishments. All 18 factories belonged to the descendants of Yakov Vasilyevich Kuznetsov, the founder of the dynasty. The work of his father, who founded the factory in Novo-Khariotnovo, was continued by Terenty Yakovlevich Kuznetsov, who in 1832 built a second, larger porcelain factory in the Dulevo wasteland of the Vladimir province; this factory later became the basis of the M.S. partnership. Kuznetsova. In 1851 T.Ya. Kuznetsov rented the well-known Safronov plant in the village of Korotkaya. In 1853-54. sons of T.Ya. Kuznetsov and A.Ya. Kuznetsov were divided: the factories in Dulevo and Korotkaya went to S.T. Kuznetsov, and the plant in Novo-Kharitonov N.A. Kuznetsov and A.A. Kuznetsov. These factories united in 1864 in the hands of M.S. Kuznetsov, who in 1889 organized an industrial partnership, which by the beginning of the 20th century owned eight of the largest ceramic enterprises in Russia. This first branch of the Kuznetsovs was very rich. The products of the Kuznetsov Factories received the highest awards at Russian and international exhibitions. After participating in the Moscow Polytechnic Exhibition in 1872 and in the industrial exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod, he received the right to put the State Emblem on his products. World fame also grew. Evidence of this is the gold medals at the World Exhibitions in Paris in 1889 and 1900, the “Grand Prix” at the exhibition in Reims in 1903 and Liege in 1905. For services to the Fatherland and society M.S. Kuznetsov was awarded the Orders of Stanislav and Vladimir of two degrees, St. Anne, as well as the Order of the Bukhara Star, the French Cavalry Cross and the Order of the Legion of Honor. He was a member of many charitable institutions, was a member of the Moscow City Duma and an elected member of the Moscow Exchange Society and, of course, as the best of the best in his industry, he had the title “Supplier of the Court of His Imperial Majesty.” In 1892, the Gardner plant, famous since the 18th century, could not withstand the competition and was bought by a partnership, followed by others. By the end of the 19th century, the partnership of M.S. Kuznetsov almost completely conquered the Russian domestic market and entered the markets of Persia, Turkey, China and Afghanistan with goods. The second branch was started by E.Ya. Kuznetsov, who apparently received some capital as a result of the division of 1853-54. His son I.E. Kuznetsov owned three of the country's largest ceramic enterprises, located in the Novgorod province. This branch was not part of the M.S. Partnership. Kuznetsov and developed successfully until the 1917 revolution.
