Lebedeva Sarra Dmitrievna

Lebedeva Sarra Dmitrievna (1892-1967)

Famous sculptor, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. Born in St. Petersburg. She studied at the private schools of Bernstein, Zvantseva, Sherwood, and Goldblatt. Studied art abroad. Since 1915 he has been working in his own workshop. At ZIK 1934-1936. created a tea set for Central Asia, fruit bowls, sculptural sketches: “Standing woman with a ball in her hand”, “Swimmer”, “Woman leaning towards a stool”, “Sitting boxer” and many others. Due to the attentiveness to the internal state of the model, Lebedeva has few actual monumental works - “Miner” (1937), “Figure with a banner (A. G. Stakhanov)” (1939), “Girl with a Butterfly” (1936). And in the projects of city monuments (A. S. Pushkin, 1937–38; F. E. Dzerzhinsky, 1940; A. P. Chekhov, 1944–45), the elaboration of faces was carried out with easel detail. But in her small bronze figurines, often sketches (“Sitting with a Banjo,” 1932–33; “Violinist,” 1938), there is a completely classical monumental integrity. The works of S. D. Lebedeva are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Tula Art Museum, the Chuvash State Art Museum, and private Russian collections.
