The Imperial Porcelain Factory (Nevskaya Porcelain Manufactory, State Porcelain Factory (GFZ), Leningrad Porcelain Factory named after M.V. Lomonosov, Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (LFZ) was founded by decree of Elizabeth Petrovna. Since 1747, under the management of Dmitry Vinogradov, the plant began producing high-quality porcelain. Since 1750, production has been established snuff boxes, porcelain eggs and small dishes, mainly for emperors, their families, princes, government agencies and diplomatic gifts. During the reign of Nicholas I, the plant’s main products were sold in company stores in St. Petersburg and Moscow, and were presented at fairs, auctions, exhibitions, including abroad (Riga, London, Paris), where they were awarded with medals. A room for displaying samples was set up at the plant, which by 1845 had turned into a museum. During the revolutionary period, the plant produced mainly propaganda items (an order for the “October Revolution” propaganda train; items dedicated to the assassination attempt on Alexander II; plates dedicated to the 8th Congress of Soviets in Moscow). Famous works: series of figures “Peoples of the Russian State” (1780s), “Arabesque Service” (1784), bust of Catherine II, “Kremlin” service, sculptures by Adamson: “Listening to the Whisper of the Sea”, “Kiss of the Wave”, “Birth of Venus”, “The Last Breath of the Ship”, “Demon”, “Cry of the Soul”. IFZ porcelain is presented in the Hermitage, Moscow Historical Museum, London Victoria and Albert Museum, New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, etc.
