The Leningrad Porcelain Factory (LZFI) was created in 1954 at the All-Union Institute of Porcelain and Earthenware Industry in Leningrad with production workshops in Apraksin Dvor. Initially, LZFI was engaged in the production of only technical products, but later the enterprise retrained to produce porcelain figurines, dishes, interior items and souvenirs. The plant's own art workshop lasted only a few years and was closed. Since the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory had a strict art school with numerous and long-standing traditions, many artists and sculptors sent their works to the Leningrad Experimental Factory, where it was easier to realize the innovative ideas of the artists, and therefore it is stylistically easy to distinguish the fine plastic art of these factories. The products of the Leningrad Experimental Plant are distinguished by greater stylization and a kind of avant-gardeism. After the 1960s The plant practically did not produce small plastic items, but specialized in porcelain tableware. And after the 1990s. The plant stopped producing tableware due to low consumption and switched to the production of other porcelain products.
