In 1951 he graduated from the Leningrad Art School. Since 1954 - member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1966, he was elected chairman of the Arkhangelsk organization of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1957, after Mikhalev’s successful participation in an exhibition of young Soviet artists dedicated to the VI World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow, the Union of Artists of the USSR granted him a three-month creative trip to China. The author's works are included in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Central Theater Museum. A.A.
