Founded in 1876 by A.K. Ringenberg, the Chudovo Glassworks was the first factory in Russia established to meet the demand for lamp glass and various types of lanterns. In 1889, the plant was acquired by I.E. Kuznetsov. By the early 20th century, alongside kerosene lamps, the factory was producing crystal and household glassware, including sugar bowls, creamers, coffee pots, pitchers, various styles of drinking glasses, and tableware sets. In 1909, the facility was renamed the "Chudovo Glass and Crystal Works." In 1913, all of I.E. Kuznetsov’s enterprises were incorporated into the "I.E. Kuznetsov Partnership." The plant was nationalized on February 20, 1919, and in November, a general meeting of the workers gave it the name "Vosstaniye" (Uprising).
