Soviet sculptor, teacher, professor, Stalin Prize laureate. Graduate of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In the 1930s, he created monuments to Soviet leaders - Lenin, Stalin, Voroshilov. At the beginning of the war, he participated in camouflaging the main architectural monuments of Leningrad from the threat of aviation, and during the blockade he was involved in the creation of propaganda posters and reliefs that motivated the defenders and residents of Leningrad. Since the late 1940s, he taught at the Leningrad Art and Industry School in the sculpture department.
