Outstanding Soviet sculptor-monumentalist, People's Artist of the USSR (1959), full member (1953) and vice-president (1970) of the USSR Academy of Arts, Hero of Socialist Labor (1967), five-time laureate of the Stalin Prize (1946-1950), laureate of the Lenin Prize (1970). A participant in the Great Patriotic War, holder of the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree, retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943. In 1926 he entered the Rostov Art School, where he studied until 1931. In 1931-1933 he studied at the Leningrad Academy of Arts of the USSR. Since 1943 he has been working as a war artist at the Moscow Studio named after M. B. Grekov (until 1960). Within the walls of the studio, Vuchetich finally formed as a sculptor. In his work, Evgeniy Viktorovich, with great power of realistic generalization, recreates the most important events in the history of the state. The images he created often acquire the meaning of a heroic symbol. Vuchetich sculpted a whole gallery of sculptural portraits of V. I. Lenin, I. V. Stalin, political figures, Soviet military leaders, heroes of war and labor. In 1946, Vuchetich became the head of a major artistic project to create a majestic ensemble-monument to soldiers of the Soviet Army in Treptof Park (Berlin, eastern zone of occupation) (1946-1949, together with the architect Ya. B. Bolopolsky), which personifies the high nobility of the liberation mission of the Soviet people. 1963-1967 according to the project and under the direct supervision of Vuchetich, a memorial ensemble was built to the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd (together with architects Ya. B. Belopolsky and others, Lenin Prize (1970)) In 1972, Vuchetich, together with other sculptors and architects, began working on the implementation of the project “National Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945." in Kyiv.
