The Kirov Faience Factory was founded in 1853 on the basis of the Nizhnepesochny Ironworks. This factory produced cast iron, nails, door bolts and other household goods. After the enterprise was repurposed, industrialist Sergei Ivanovich Maltsov organized faience production here. The first samples of faience products were also produced at that time. In the first years after the October Revolution, the Kirov Factory was nationalized and switched to the production of propaganda faience. In 1937, the enterprise received a new name – the Construction Faience Factory. Production was focused primarily on the production of sanitary ceramics. In the second half of the 20th century, the outstanding artist E.S. Nikitin worked on the creation of artistic porcelain at the factory. In 1983, the factory was renamed again and became known as the Kirov Factory of Construction Porcelain. Since 2008 it has been renamed into Kirovskaya Keramika CJSC.
