Tikhmenev Evgeniy Alexandrovich

Russian painter, graphic artist, animal painter. From the old noble family of the Tikhmenevs, dating back to the second half of the 16th century. Since 1891, volunteer at the Academy of Arts (class of battle painting). Already during this period, Tikhmenev was seriously interested in gun and hound hunting, which later became the main theme of his numerous paintings and graphic works. In the 1900-1910s he was a regular participant in the Autumn exhibitions in St. Petersburg. His drawings and graphics were regularly reproduced in the magazines “Niva”, “Rodina”, “Iskra”. Participant in exhibitions of the Association of Artists of the Revolution (AHR) in 1930 and 1932 and an exhibition of Kazakh art in Moscow (1936). The artist's works are in many regional museums and private collections.
