Russian genre painter. Known as the author of the first known portrait of F. M. Dostoevsky. Illustrated the works of M. Yu. Lermontov, N. V. Gogol, I. A. Krylov. He was an Academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts and a member of the Royal Belgian Watercolor Society. Works by K.A. Trutovsky are kept in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republican Art Museum named after Ts. S. Sampilov, private collections in Russia and abroad.
