Painter, graphic artist, journalist. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1960). Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1980). Participant of the Great Patriotic War. In 1951 he graduated from the Sverdlovsk Art School. I.D. Shadra and began working in Perm. The first works are dedicated to the construction of the Kama Hydroelectric Power Station (inscribed in the “Book of Honor of the Builders of the Kamskaya Hydroelectric Power Station”; together with the builders of the Votkinsk Hydroelectric Power Station, he was awarded the medal “For Labor Distinction”). Subsequently, Tumbasov, as an artist and journalist, went on creative trips and captured the construction of the Nizhnekamsk and Saratov (on the Volga river), Ust-Ilimsk (on the Angara river), Krasnoyarsk, Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power stations (on the Yenisei river), creating a unique artistic chronicle of the grandiose construction projects of his time (“Industrial landscape. Votkinskaya pit Hydroelectric Power Station" (1969); a series of drawings, industrial landscapes, graphic portraits and sketches of portraits of builders). In 1973-1974 was part of a creative team of artists at the construction of the Berezniki potash plant, and based on the results of the trip, created a series of drawings and paintings “Potassium workers” (“Construction of a new potash plant”, “Installers”, “Prokhodchik”, etc.). In 1977, a creative trip along the river took place. Yenisei, the Taimyr Peninsula, to the cities of Norilsk, Khatanga, on the Laptev Sea and the Kara Sea together with the Sverdlovsk painter E. Gudin (“Workdays of Yamal”, “Polar Village”, 1984). Starting from 1954-1955, for more than 20 years, Tumbasov participated in Perm expeditions. regional (now regional) local history museum, making ethnographic and artistic sketches of old villages and cities. He drew from life old factory premises and workshops that fell into the flood zone of the Kama Sea. During expeditions around the Kama region he captured architectural monuments in the city of Usolye, the village. Nyrob, s. Pyanteg, s. Yanidor, Cherdyn and other ancient villages and towns of the region. Throughout his creative life he painted landscapes of the Kama region, creating numerous series of lyrical and epic paintings, sketches dedicated to the nature of Perm. region, united in numerous cycles “Native Kama Region”, “Our Land”, “Sketches of the Kama Region”, etc., 1957-2000. (“Along the Kama”, 1957; “Spring”, “Cloud”, “There are thunderstorms”, 1979, etc.). Participant of all-Union, republican, zonal, regional, regional art exhibitions since 1951. Personal exhibitions of works took place in 1962, 1963, 1971, 1981, 1985, 1994, 2000. The works are located in Perm. State Art Gallery, other museums of Perm. region, in private collections in Russia and abroad.
