Painter, graphic artist. He came from a family of Polish nobles. In 1879 he moved to St. Petersburg, studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts with V.P. Vereshchagin and P.P. Chistyakov - first as a visiting student, then as a permanent student. He made creative trips to Crimea and the Caucasus. In 1896 he worked on the estate of M.K. Tenisheva Talashkino. In the 1890s, he traveled repeatedly to Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Morocco and other countries. In 1899–1903 he took part in exhibitions of the World of Art association. From 1902 (until 1912) he taught at the Higher Art School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at the Imperial Academy of Arts, the Drawing School of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, and ran his own workshop, which was popular among young artists. In 1906 he was awarded the title of academician, in 1911 he was elected a full member of the Academy of Arts. Tsionglinsky entered the history of Russian art primarily as an outstanding teacher who actively supported the latest trends; among his students was E.E. Lansere, S.V. Chekhonin, L.A. Bruni, I.I. Brodsky, M.V. Matyushin, E.G. Guro and many others. The artist’s works are in the largest domestic museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, as well as in private collections.
