People's Artist of the USSR (1982). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1978), since 1983 president of the USSR Academy of Arts. Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1985). Studied at INGSA named after. I.E. Repin with V.M. Oreshnikov and A.A. Mylnikov, in graduate school at the Academy of Arts (1951-1954) with A.M. Gerasimova. Since 1952 he taught at INGSA named after. I.E.Repina, professor since 1971, 1977-1983. – rector. He directed the easel painting workshop (since 1979) and the creative workshop (since 1987). In 1975-1979 was the chairman of the board of the Leningrad Forestry Agency. Since 1983, honorary member of the Austrian Fine Arts Society. Author of paintings on themes of the Great Patriotic War, genre paintings, urban and rural landscapes, still lifes, portraits, works on themes of Soviet history. He performed a series of drawings "Leningrad" (1969). Works by B.S. Uvarov are presented in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, and other museums in Russia.
