Painter, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (since 1958. He studied at the Moscow Institute of Transport Engineers (1940-1941), then at the Moscow City Art Studio for the Disabled of the Great Patriotic War (1945-1950) with K. F. Yuon, I. I. Zakharov, K. F. Morozov and G. A. Sretensky, graduated from the studio with honors. He started his exhibition activity in 1958, participated in many Moscow and republican exhibitions; no personal exhibitions were held during his lifetime, a posthumous personal exhibition was held in Moscow in 2010. The works of Nikolai Ivanovich Ulyanov are in museum and private collections in Russia, as well as in collections in Japan, Germany, France and the USA.
