He studied at the drawing school at the Saratov Society of Fine Arts under V. Konovalov and G. Baraka, then at the Bogolyubov Drawing School (together with P.V. Kuznetsov) under the guidance of V.E. Borisova-Musatova; at MUZHVZ (1897-1907) with I.I. Levitan, V.A. Serova, K.A. Korovina. In 1902, he painted the Saratov Church of the Kazan Mother of God together with P.V. Kuznetsov and K.S. Petrov-Vodkin. The author of the picturesque design of the villa is Ya.E. Zhukovsky in Kuchuk-Koy in Crimea. The artist is a symbolist. Participated in the exhibitions “Scarlet Rose” in 1907 in Saratov and “Blue Rose” in Moscow. Exhibited at exhibitions at the Salon of the Golden Fleece. Since 1924, member of the Four Arts Society. Since 1918 he taught at the Drawing School named after. Bogolyubov in Saratov and the Proletkult studio. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin, in many regional museums.
