In 1735 he was awarded the title of academician, and in 1737 - professor. The first artist of the king (1762), director of the Academy (from 1763-1765). In 1771, the famous art connoisseur D. Diderot advised Catherine II to purchase Vanloo's paintings. The artist's works are presented in the Hermitage collection, as well as in many European museums.
