Since 1907 she studied at the A. Matisse Academy and attended the La Palette Academy. Since 1909, she exhibited in the Parisian salons: Autumn, Independent, etc. In 1910, she became one of the organizers of the Russian Literary and Artistic Society in Paris and the head of the Russian Art Academy. At the beginning of 1912, she founded the “Free Academy” or “Maria Vasilyeva Academy”, a free studio without teaching, in her own workshop. The following people were here: A. Matisse, J. Braque, F. Léger, Marevna, P. Picasso, A. Modigliani. In 1915 she came to Russia, participated in the exhibitions “0.10” (Pg., 1915-16), “Shop” (M., 1916). In 1916 she returned to France through Scandinavia. In the 1920s she held several solo exhibitions in Paris (1922, 1924, 1928).
