A portrait artist who gained fame as the author of commissioned portraits of representatives of the upper strata of Russian society. In 1854-1867 studied with P.V. Basina, P.M. Shamshin at the Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1866 he received a small silver medal, and in 1867 - the title of non-class artist.
