The Russian artist, academician of landscape painting, went down in history as the first landscape artist of the Middle Urals. Brother of Vasily Petrovich Vereshchagin. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg (1858-1865). Pyotr Petrovich chose landscape painting as his specialty. One of his teachers was S. M. Vorobyov, a famous landscape painter who lived in Italy for many years. His lessons had a strong influence on P. P. Vereshchagin. Awarded two silver medals of 2 and 1 dignity. In landscape he was primarily a perspectivalist, and his paintings were painted very subtly. Traveling around Russia, he painted many views of Moscow, Kyiv, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Volga cities, cities of Western provinces; Finnish, Crimean, Caucasian and Ural species, and since 1878 - cities along the Danube. The active creative period of P.P. Vereshchagin amounted to about three decades of intense and fruitful work, and the pictorial level of his works always remained very high. Being a natural member of the Academy of Arts, he managed to find his own style in one of the most traditional academic genres. His original and well-recognized “portraits” of cities and localities, full of everyday details close to the Russian heart, have rightfully gained wide popularity. The works of P. P. Vereshchagin are available in many museums in Russia.
