Graphic artist, decorative and applied arts artist, teacher. Studied at the Central School of Technical Drawing of Baron A.L. Stieglitz in St. Petersburg (1908–1915) with K. A. Brenzen. Since 1921 he lived and worked in Riga. He worked in the field of easel and applied graphics: he was engaged in book and magazine illustration, bookplate, and created sketches of stained glass windows, fabrics, and porcelain painting. He illustrated and designed one of the first Soviet magazines, “Plamya” (1918–1920). One of the organizers of the porcelain painting workshop “Baltars” (1924-1929). Since 1913 - participant of Russian and international exhibitions. Member of the association “Green Crow” (1927–1929), the Society of Riga Graphic Artists (1928–1932). He taught at the art studio at the Riga People's High School (1927–1934), the Latvian Academy of Arts (1940–1941). In 1944 he emigrated to Germany, and in 1949 he moved to the USA. The works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad.
