In the early 1880s. Graduated from the Odessa Drawing School and studied at the Munich Academy of Arts. For several years he taught drawing in Rio de Janeiro. Around 1890, he settled in Paris and continued his studies with J.L. Jerome and A.V. Bouguereau. Performed illustrations for the Spanish edition of The Brothers Karamazov by F.M. Dostoevsky. Exhibited in the Parisian salons: Autumn, Independent and Tuileries. He held several personal exhibitions in Parisian galleries. Knight of the Legion of Honor.
