At the Academy of Arts (1833-1839), he successfully mastered the subtleties of the painter’s craft, consistently receiving the required medals for success in his studies: large and small silver (1836), 2 gold (1837) and 1 gold for “Landscape painted from life at the Fal dacha near Revel” (1838), 1839 - the title of artist XIV class. After graduating from the Academy, he took a retirement trip to Italy (1840-1849), where S.M. Vorobyov finally formed as an artist. His Italian landscapes have wide success, firmly established after the series of watercolors with views of Italy commissioned by the imperial family. And although Italian motifs remained in the work of S. Vorobyov until the end of his life, no less success fell on the landscape painter’s images of St. Petersburg and its environs, the Russian Baltic states. In 1846, the artist became an academician, 1847 - he went abroad again; from 1855 to 1872 he taught at the Academy. Among his students are Yu. Klever, A. Meshchersky, I. Shishkin and others.
